I love Texas. There is no doubt about it. They are the home to Whole Foods. Some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had is from Texas. My first work trip ever was to San Antonio. Shiner beer is delicious. Some of my favorite bloggers are from Texas (I’m looking at you two ladies), and very soon one of my dear friends will call Texas home.
And then I went to Central Market with Laura.
Holy moly. Love at first site.
Foodie Crossing? Swoon.
The Central Market cafe puts the Whole Foods hot bar to shame. So many choices!
Kalamata olives, feta, and hummus? Drool. I need another asap.
What a beauty. We dined al fresco with some scary birds. I love Texas weather so I wanted to soak up every minute of it that I could.
One more picture because the hummus is too perfect to not take 100 pictures of.
Maine Root root beer. Good shit.
The bakery was my favorite part. (well after that salad)
Must re-create. Must. (In fact trial #1 is in the oven. Fingers crossed.)
The salad…easy peasy to recreate and I had all the ingredients in my fridge.
- 1 heart of romaine, chopped
- Half of a roasted pepper, sliced (roast your own! It’s easy and fresh is best!)
- 1/4 cup chopped cucumber
- 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes
- 1/8 cup olives (I used marianted mixed olives, but whatever floats your boat)
- 1/2 cup hummus
- 1/4 cup fat free feta cheese (Athenos fat free feta is only 35 calories per 1/4 cup!)
A Mediterranean Salad beast!
Now I think I need to start planning another trip down to Texas. Maybe this time for vacation rather than work!
